I work my way around the world financing my travels with one freelancing gig at a time. I don’t travel as a “normal tourist” who constantly moves and runs around the place checking out sights. I do what you might want to call a “slow travel”. It is a necessity for me as I do work pretty much every day so I need some stability. And I believe by sticking around for a while I get to know locals and their culture and of course the local hot spots to visit.
How Did I Get Here
It was not really an accident but it was not planned either. Or maybe the plan was in my head before I even realized it. It all started after a surprise chat on Friday afternoon at work asking me to take over more work. I didn’t want it. I really, really did not want it. There was no particular reason why not as I had great boss and colleagues, but I just knew my time was up and I had to do something else in my life.
So I went to work on Monday morning and resigned.
Yep I resigned with no plan of what’s going to happen next. Not my best plan I must say and would I recommend someone else to do it the way I did but today I could not be happier that I did exactly that.
Anyways from that Monday morning lot has happened. Many tough times with months of very little work and months with way too much work. And anything and everything in between.
Where I Have Been
Much of my time you can find me in South East Asia, and mostly in Thailand. My big dream for years was to live in Asia but that never materialized with work or studies so this was it. Over the years I have lived in three continents in six countries (and counting…). Nowadays I mostly split my time between three continents and really trying to figure out how I could squeeze another continent to the mix (South America), and to live in New York.
Countries that I have traveled is quite a long one but here it goes…: Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Norway, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, USA, France, Belgium, Greece… and many more that I just can’t remember now.
What You Find on This Website
Lot of travel and freelancing stuff, freelancer and business insider tips, tons of photos (I love photography) and most likely quite a few positive quotes to jazz up your (and mine) day a bit.
I am also interested to interview fellow freelancers from all industries so do drop me a message if you want to say hello to my readers!
Meet for a Cuppa
I love talking business, techie stuff, travel, culture, animals, camera gear…. And I love good and strong cup of coffee.
If you are in same city with me drop me a message and let’s meet.
If you have empty desk at your office, internet cafe etc. and want to donate a space for me for a day – Fantastic! I’d be more than happy to chat about above or anything else you fancy and share my work day with you.
Where I want to go
I want to live in New York for a while. I’m really a city girl in my heart and fell in love Big Apple immediately but it is just SO expensive to live in. But one day I will head there for a while. Can you help?
Volunteering
I love to volunteer especially with animals. If you are or you know a place I could volunteer, please do let me know! What I could do you is help out with strategy, financing ideas, planning for future, cleaning, cuddling dogs/cats/?, take photos, or just promote your place by writing about it in my blog.
What Do I Do on My Laptop?
Great question, but unfortunately I don’t have a short answer for that. I am what you could call a “Jill of all trades”. I have many skills and while freelancing my titles have included assistant, operations & project manager, HR director, travel photographer & writer… list is pretty extensive yet I think that is one of my strengths today. I have no fear for change or anything new; I actually embrace change – especially location and learning something new!
I am an expert in freelancing, coaching, living location independent life and business outsourcing but that does not mean I solely work with those. My travels are financed sometimes quite heavily by writing and art as well.
Hire Me
You could for example license some of my art work or photography (have done so before), to coach you to start freelancing career and/or location independent life, to get your business on the road and work anywhere you want, and…. You name it – I’ll do it.
